Biography

As a Malawian artist, my work is deeply inspired by the cultural, social, and emotional landscapes of my community. Rooted in tradition and connection, my art explores themes of identity, resilience, and the enduring bonds that tie us together. Each piece tells a story—of people, relationships, and defining moments. I immerse myself in the lives of my subjects, often drawing from my community to portray themes of strength and unity. Using traditional mediums, I layer paint to create striking contrasts of black and white skin tones, paired with vibrant African fabrics and color. The selective use of color symbolizes hope, vitality, and cultural pride, balancing simplicity with complexity. My paintings reflect profound relationships—whether the love of a mother and child, the camaraderie of friends, or beliefs. Through these works, I aim to connect people across boundaries, inspiring reflection on relationships and cultural heritage. Inspired by Malawi’s natural beauty, vibrant traditions, and the resilience of my community, my art celebrates everyday life while preserving stories and sparking dialogue. Each piece is a testament to the strength, love, and enduring spirit of my people.
