Meet Darina Palmire

I am a Czech born ceramist based in Ocala, Florida. Having studied in the US, Czech, and finally graduating from the University of Brighton, UK, I have always been exposed to many different cultures. My international travels have only increased while I was working for a travel agency covering areas such as India, Nepal, Indonesia and Australia.

Through my time spent abroad I have been exposed to many influences which left mark on my art work. In my repertoire there can be found various items from vases, large center piece bowl and other decorative items.

By being a certified interior designer herself, I am passionate about decor. With that in mind my pieces add a contemporary touch to any home.

Artist Statement

Inspired by both the natural world and ancient type of ceramics, my work focuses on creating both abstract forms with textured finishes as well as traditional Greek-inspired vessels. The common theme that runs through my work is the use of neutral colors well as appreciating the natural state of the clay without further glazing.

Each piece is hand-built and completely unique. Since nothing is wheel-thrown, there will always be some asymmetry in my pieces, which only showcases the level of craftsmanship and skill that goes into creating each piece.
