Kiah Manning was born in the Midwest, where his artistic journey began as a child painting with his grandmother. These early creative moments nurtured a lifelong passion for art and an instinctive approach to self-expression. Over the years, he has lived in Cape Cod, Boston, and San Diego, absorbing the unique cultural and environmental influences of these regions.
In 2021, Kiah started working in oil. Based in Central Florida, he is now a successful interior designer whose artistic vision informs every aspect of his work.
He favors unconventional tools to apply texture to abstract works that resonate deeply with viewers. Inspired by the emotional and psychological intensity of Francis Bacon, his paintings explore the dynamic interplay of form and meaning.
Artist Statement:
The work is about creating a space that transcends explanation. Whether painting or designing, my work explores how forms and their relationships can evoke meaning without the need for words, like uncovering a universal language that speaks to something innate in all of us.
The process is tactile and intuitive, using tools like rags, knives, and household objects to engage directly with the canvas. This approach allows me to experiment with layers and texture, creating works that are as much about process as they are about the finished piece.
But the goal is always to transform a space into an experience that offers moments of reflection, discovery, and wonder.
