"WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU" Art Competition Voting – Presented by NOMA Gallery 🎨

NOMA Gallery is thrilled to invite art lovers and the public to take part in the voting process for our "WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU" Art Competition! This is your chance to help us celebrate diverse interpretations of the human form and support your favorite artwork.

Voting Categories:

  • People’s Choice: Open for public voting! You get to choose the fan-favorite piece in the "WHAT MAKES YOU, YOU" exhibition.

How to Vote:

  1. Explore the Artwork: Browse through the gallery of submitted works on our website. Take time to admire the creativity, expression, and skill behind each piece.
  2. Select Your Favorite: Once you’ve found the artwork that speaks to you, cast your vote by selecting it in our voting form. For fairness, we may request your email address to ensure the integrity of the process.
  3. Submit Your Vote: Finalize your choice by clicking submit. Each person is allowed to vote once to keep things fair.
  4. Share and Promote: Share the competition with your friends and family! Encourage them to check out the artwork and vote for their favorites.

Voting Period:
Voting opens DEC 2, 2025, and will be available until DEC 23, 2025. Be sure to cast your vote before the deadline!

Announcement of Winners:
The winners, including the People’s Choice award, will be announced on DEC 25, 2025. Stay connected with us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter for the latest updates.

THREADS OF CHANGE

A Collaboration Between NOMA Gallery & The LILAC Foundation


Call Opens November 2025 · Runway Premiere September 2026


NOMA Gallery and The LILAC Foundation invite artists, illustrators, and designers to submit original fashion concepts for Threads of Change, an exhibition and runway event centered on art, sustainability, and wearable storytelling.

Selected entries will be transformed into full couture and ready-to-wear garments using only repurposed clothing and donated textiles. Garments will be professionally constructed by our design team and showcased during the Threads of Change Runway Event in Fall 2026 in Ocala, Florida.


What to Submit


Artists must submit two related looks into ONE design:

  • Couture Look: sculptural, conceptual, or avant-garde
     
  • Ready-to-Wear Look: a wearable adaptation of the couture concept
     

Fashion design experience is not required.


Entry Requirements


✔ Full-color illustration(s) of front and back.
✔ 250-word artist statement
✔ Concept must be feasible using upcycled materials
✔ Selected artists collaborate with LILAC’s creative team
✔ Artists retain copyright to illustrations but grant adaptation rights for production


Awards


  • Best in Show – $250
     
  • First Place – $200
     
  • Second Place – $150
     
  • Third Place – $100
     
  • Honorable Mention – $75
     
  • Community Favorite (public vote, Jan 2026) – $50
     

All selected artists receive professional photography, portfolio credit, PR/media features, and inclusion in the Threads of Change exhibition catalog.

Theme & Creative Direction


We are seeking visionary work rooted in transformation, identity, resilience, repurposing, and storytelling through fashion. Designs should be expressive, structural, and innovative — not costume-based or fantasy-only.


Entry fees are non-refundable. Early Bird pricing of $10 per entry is valid until 11:59 PM ET on November 30, 2025. Beginning December 1, 2025, the standard entry fee of $15 per entry will apply.

 Important Information for Your Entry

To participate in NOMA Gallery's "Threads of Change" art & design competition, please carefully follow the steps below:

  1. Fill Out the Entry Form (right): Complete the required entry form with all necessary details about you and your artwork. Please fill in titles of each piece in accordance to your image.
  2. Submit Your Art( right): Upload your artwork directly through the form. 
  3. Select Your Number of Entries (below): Choose the number of entries you wish to submit (up to 10 per artist).
  4. Pay the Entry Fee (below):  Entry fees are non-refundable. Early Entry  pricing of $10 per entry is valid until 11:59 PM ET on November 30, 2025. Beginning December 1, 2025, the standard entry fee of $15 per entry will apply.

Submission Guidelines

  • Accepted Mediums:  


  • Traditional drawing (graphite, ink, colored pencil, marker, etc.)
     
  • Painting (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil, mixed media)
     
  • Digital illustration / digital painting
     
  • Mixed media (collage, hand + digital hybrid, etc.)nd poetry.
     
  • AI-Generated Work: Please note that AI-generated creations are not accepted as original artwork for this competition. Submissions must be created by the artist using traditional or digital methods that reflect their own creative input.
     
  • Jurying Process: All submissions will go through a juried review. Entry does not guarantee inclusion in the final exhibition/runway show.
     
  • Refund Policy: All submission fees are non-refundable, regardless of jurying outcome.
     
  • Originality: By submitting, artists confirm that their work is their own original creation and does not infringe on the rights of others.
